Narrative:

Prior to takeoff, another aircraft advised us that a service hatch was ajar. We taxied clear of the taxiway in use and visually checked the low access hatch, which as it turned out was left ajar by ramp lav service personnel. After a discussion with the captain it was agreed that the hatch would be closed by myself. The engine on the left side of the aircraft was shut down and secured and I exited the aircraft and closed the lav door. Captain remained at the controls the entire time. No further incident.
