Narrative:

While taxiing we were advised by ground control that our aft cargo door was open. This was verified by another aircraft. We had no warning lights indicating an open door. In fact, it would at this time not 'press to test.' we returned to the gate to have the equipment corrected. With no door open lights showing, it is impossible for a crew to have knowledge of an open door. Dark lights, no problem. This is a situation where the crew is dependant on the pushback crew to check for open doors and the baggage crew to have done their jobs by closing the doors when finished.
