Narrative:
After takeoff and landing gear retraction, a very loud and violent vibration existed in the airframe. I elected to return to the airport. I declared an emergency. A normal landing was accomplished. After stopping aircraft, maintenance personnel examined aircraft and found left front nose gear door unlatched.
