Narrative:

Aircraft experienced an in-flight fire indication on right hand engine. The engine was shut down. Flight crew landed aircraft. Mechanic was dispatched. Mechanic found a failed fire detector. Air carrier instructed him to bypass detector and sign it off. He did so and released aircraft for return to service, creating an improperly released aircraft and a falsification of records.

Title: SMA CARGO ACFT RETURNED TO SVC WITH A BYPASSED FIRE DETECTOR IN R HAND ENG. SIGNED OFF IN LOGBOOK WITH MAINT RELEASE SIGNED BY MECH.

Narrative: ACFT EXPERIENCED AN INFLT FIRE INDICATION ON R HAND ENG. THE ENG WAS SHUT DOWN. FLC LANDED ACFT. MECH WAS DISPATCHED. MECH FOUND A FAILED FIRE DETECTOR. ACR INSTRUCTED HIM TO BYPASS DETECTOR AND SIGN IT OFF. HE DID SO AND RELEASED ACFT FOR RETURN TO SVC, CREATING AN IMPROPERLY RELEASED ACFT AND A FALSIFICATION OF RECORDS.
