Narrative:
While en route from dallas to shv, la, ZFW cleared flight after quitman VOR direct shv. After qim VOR flight proceeded direct shv airport. Upon contacting shv approach controller informed that flight was cleared direct shv VOR (approximately 15 NM nne). After course correction was effected flight cancelled IFR and proceeded direct shv regional without mishap VFR. Should verify clearance any time VOR located off airport of same name, any distance.

Title: FLC OF A CPR LTT JET ACFT FAILED TO FOLLOW THEIR FLT PLAN RTE CLRNC DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY BELIEVED THAT THE ROUTING WAS TO THE DEST ARPT RATHER THAN THE 'OFF ARPT' VOR.
Narrative: WHILE ENRTE FROM DALLAS TO SHV, LA, ZFW CLRED FLT AFTER QUITMAN VOR DIRECT SHV. AFTER QIM VOR FLT PROCEEDED DIRECT SHV ARPT. UPON CONTACTING SHV APCH CTLR INFORMED THAT FLT WAS CLRED DIRECT SHV VOR (APPROX 15 NM NNE). AFTER COURSE CORRECTION WAS EFFECTED FLT CANCELLED IFR AND PROCEEDED DIRECT SHV REGIONAL WITHOUT MISHAP VFR. SHOULD VERIFY CLRNC ANY TIME VOR LOCATED OFF ARPT OF SAME NAME, ANY DISTANCE.
