Narrative:
Elevator cable tensions were adjusted and signed off on a task card by previous shift. I discovered elevator cable tension far in advance of specifications and caused an elevator asymmetry problem. I got current maintenance manual references and properly adjusted cable tension in the presence of an inspector. I then went home without completing the proper paperwork -- accidentally.
