Narrative:

While taxiing for departure at uncontrolled airport saw small aircraft depart (takeoff). 2-3 mins later took runway for departure, made blind call for departure, left turn to west. Did not see any aircraft in area of departure. Made normal takeoff and climb out. After passing 3000 ft MSL, made call to ict approach, was asked by controller if I saw aircraft in my vicinity. I stated that I did not. He said I had just passed through the other aircraft's altitude and was I lucky. He did not state how close. But it was very close. Problem was I never heard the other aircraft make departure calls or intentions on leaving 3AU airport. I assumed he would make left 90 degree with 45 degree right turn (standard departure). I would not turn until reaching 3000 ft MSL, about 1500 ft AGL. I should have asked the small aircraft his intentions. Radio change is necessary because closeness of arsa.

Narrative: WHILE TAXIING FOR DEP AT UNCTLED ARPT SAW SMA DEPART (TKOF). 2-3 MINS LATER TOOK RWY FOR DEP, MADE BLIND CALL FOR DEP, L TURN TO W. DID NOT SEE ANY ACFT IN AREA OF DEP. MADE NORMAL TKOF AND CLBOUT. AFTER PASSING 3000 FT MSL, MADE CALL TO ICT APCH, WAS ASKED BY CTLR IF I SAW ACFT IN MY VICINITY. I STATED THAT I DID NOT. HE SAID I HAD JUST PASSED THROUGH THE OTHER ACFT'S ALT AND WAS I LUCKY. HE DID NOT STATE HOW CLOSE. BUT IT WAS VERY CLOSE. PROB WAS I NEVER HEARD THE OTHER ACFT MAKE DEP CALLS OR INTENTIONS ON LEAVING 3AU ARPT. I ASSUMED HE WOULD MAKE L 90 DEG WITH 45 DEG R TURN (STANDARD DEP).
