Narrative:

Air carrier X arriving into tus for a visual approach with ILS backup. Approach asked if we had runway in sight -- we replied yes -- we were cleared for the visual and given traffic as an small aircraft who had us in sight. The traffic was below us and in the ground lights -- we reported no contact with the small aircraft. As we were lining up on runway 11L, we saw the position lights of the small aircraft -- because it was dark and he had no other lights on (no rotating beacon or landing light) it took a few seconds to determine if he was a factor -- we had no time to maneuver -- he passed directly below us, his wingspan filled our windscreen completely. We asked approach control who replied he had a 300 ft vertical separation. It looked much closer to us. If the small aircraft had us in sight, he made no attempt to maneuver. Next time I accept a visual for approach with traffic in the area, I'll be sure that I see him.

Title: ACR X ON VISUAL APCH HAD NMAC WITH SMA. SEE AND AVOID CONCEPT.

Narrative: ACR X ARRIVING INTO TUS FOR A VISUAL APCH WITH ILS BACKUP. APCH ASKED IF WE HAD RWY IN SIGHT -- WE REPLIED YES -- WE WERE CLRED FOR THE VISUAL AND GIVEN TFC AS AN SMA WHO HAD US IN SIGHT. THE TFC WAS BELOW US AND IN THE GND LIGHTS -- WE RPTED NO CONTACT WITH THE SMA. AS WE WERE LINING UP ON RWY 11L, WE SAW THE POS LIGHTS OF THE SMA -- BECAUSE IT WAS DARK AND HE HAD NO OTHER LIGHTS ON (NO ROTATING BEACON OR LNDG LIGHT) IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS TO DETERMINE IF HE WAS A FACTOR -- WE HAD NO TIME TO MANEUVER -- HE PASSED DIRECTLY BELOW US, HIS WINGSPAN FILLED OUR WINDSCREEN COMPLETELY. WE ASKED APCH CTL WHO REPLIED HE HAD A 300 FT VERT SEPARATION. IT LOOKED MUCH CLOSER TO US. IF THE SMA HAD US IN SIGHT, HE MADE NO ATTEMPT TO MANEUVER. NEXT TIME I ACCEPT A VISUAL FOR APCH WITH TFC IN THE AREA, I'LL BE SURE THAT I SEE HIM.
