Narrative:

We were level at 11000 MSL, just east of denver, and were being radar vectored into stapleton. We received a TCASII TA followed soon thereafter by an RA to 'climb.' since we didn't have visual contact with the traffic, we complied and initiated a climb. I immediately reported to denver that we were initiating a climb due to a TCASII RA. They said that there was no conflict, and that we should return to 11000 ft. We reached a maximum of 200-300 ft above 11000 ft. We never saw the traffic. I think center should have told us of the impending conflict so we could have been better prepared. Also, I think TCASII needs to be polished up a little so these events don't occur so much.
