Narrative:

While following a clearance to cross 55 mi west of stela intersection at FL190, ZBW asked at 65 west of the intersection if we were going to meet the crossing restriction. We answered yes. At 60 mi west of stela, we were asked our distance from stela and altitude. We stated FL220 and 60 west. While still descending, we were told to turn 20-30 degrees to the left. Upon reaching the new heading, we were leveling at FL190 at 55 west of stala. We were then cleared direct stela. The only way we had to identify the 55 mi west of stela was on our VLF omega. The VLF omega appeared to be operating normally. But from the questioning of the controller, there appears to be a difference on the distance west of stela between what we were indicating and what the controller was seeing.

Title: A CPR ACFT, USING OMEGA NAV, FAILED TO MAKE AN ALT XING AT AN INTXN.

Narrative: WHILE FOLLOWING A CLRNC TO CROSS 55 MI W OF STELA INTXN AT FL190, ZBW ASKED AT 65 W OF THE INTXN IF WE WERE GOING TO MEET THE XING RESTRICTION. WE ANSWERED YES. AT 60 MI W OF STELA, WE WERE ASKED OUR DISTANCE FROM STELA AND ALT. WE STATED FL220 AND 60 W. WHILE STILL DSNDING, WE WERE TOLD TO TURN 20-30 DEGS TO THE L. UPON REACHING THE NEW HDG, WE WERE LEVELING AT FL190 AT 55 W OF STALA. WE WERE THEN CLRED DIRECT STELA. THE ONLY WAY WE HAD TO IDENT THE 55 MI W OF STELA WAS ON OUR VLF OMEGA. THE VLF OMEGA APPEARED TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY. BUT FROM THE QUESTIONING OF THE CTLR, THERE APPEARS TO BE A DIFFERENCE ON THE DISTANCE W OF STELA BTWN WHAT WE WERE INDICATING AND WHAT THE CTLR WAS SEEING.
