Narrative:
Missed communication due to like sounding intxns (otter/bonnr) on jhawk arrival into mci. Thought we were cleared to cross bonnr at 11000 ft and 250 KTS when the ATC wanted otter at 11000 and 250 KTS. Recommend changing the name of one to something less similar in sound.

Narrative: MISSED COM DUE TO LIKE SOUNDING INTXNS (OTTER/BONNR) ON JHAWK ARR INTO MCI. THOUGHT WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS BONNR AT 11000 FT AND 250 KTS WHEN THE ATC WANTED OTTER AT 11000 AND 250 KTS. RECOMMEND CHANGING THE NAME OF ONE TO SOMETHING LESS SIMILAR IN SOUND.
