Narrative:

In level flight lost right hydraulic system. Apparently, the main landing gear came part way out and caused extreme drag. Performed emergency procedure and notified company maintenance and dispatch. All agreed that with fuel burn rate and remaining fuel on board, we would not be able to make destination. We then diverted to london, on and made a safe and normal landing. The company has cut back the amount of fuel carried on most segments as a cost-saving measure. This combined with a long taxi delay from the departure station, left very little room for unforeseen circumstances.
