Narrative:

Air carrier passenger flight into ft meyers. Captain checked WX at ft meyers with dispatch prior to starting descent. During descent we got ATIS information 'west' just prior to the ft meyers tower closing and the ATIS reverting to tower closed recorded message. During the VFR approach into ft meyers we contacted company operations and they told us to contact observer in the tower on CTAF frequency for updated WX. We tried repeatedly to contact the observer on CTAF frequency to get updated WX prior to landing but his communications were unreadable. We flew the approach and landed in VFR conditions with no problems.
