Narrative:

My student, while on a final approach to page field, about 2 1/2 mi out, made a 180 left turn causing a near miss. He explained that he thought he was going to southwest regional and not page field. After being cleared to land, he began to maneuver his aircraft (180 degree turn) to set up for his approach to rsw. He though he was in contact with rsw but he was actually talking to page tower. I attribute this event to his being unfamiliar with the ft. Myers area and a 70 hour private pilot. In fact he only had his private license for 2 days. I was not on board the aircraft at the time of the occurrence, and am repeating these events after speaking to him and the controller at page field.
