Narrative:

I accepted handoffs on 2 aircraft that I believed to be diverging that were in fact converging and overtaking. I climbed both aircraft after proper coordination. My attention was diverted briefly to another traffic situation. When I returned to the 2 departures, the error had already occurred. I attempted to establish vertical separation, but it was too late.
