Narrative:

After takeoff ogden, no altitude restrictions. Started left turn in climb out, changed mind, started right turn to go east through a mountain valley (takeoff was on north runway). At the mid point of the turn, a military jet passed estimated less than 200 ft to our left side with very loud engine noise. If our left hand turn had continued I believe there would have been a collision. The jet was sbound and our altitude was approximately 1000-1500 ft above the surface. No coordination of radio frequency. Military operates on a HF and GA VHF. Our attention was, I believe in the direction of the turn, and rate of closure of the traffic was such we just did not see him.
