Air carrier large transport had TCAS advisory. Told pilot to climb. ATC observed large transport at higher altitude than issued. Pilot advised he had warning to climb because of VFR traffic at 6500 head on. No target (primary or secondary) observed on radar scope. Aircraft violated los angeles airspace on the profile descent by 400 ft. Pointout was made to lax approach.
