Narrative:

Recently ZKC adopted a computer patch that displays a letter in the data block that indicates the aircraft's destination. It is very confusing to the controller. I was working an small transport from jef-stl and gave the aircraft a crossing restriction of 45 west stl at 40 (per LOA). I observed the letter 'south' in the data block and interpreted it as a handoff that was completed to stl. Then I changed the small transport over the stl controller's frequency. The aircraft was about 5 mi inside their airspace and on their frequency when the stl controller notified us. I recommend that this feature be adapted so that it can be removed at the controller's discretion.

Narrative: RECENTLY ZKC ADOPTED A COMPUTER PATCH THAT DISPLAYS A LETTER IN THE DATA BLOCK THAT INDICATES THE ACFT'S DEST. IT IS VERY CONFUSING TO THE CTLR. I WAS WORKING AN SMT FROM JEF-STL AND GAVE THE ACFT A XING RESTRICTION OF 45 W STL AT 40 (PER LOA). I OBSERVED THE LETTER 'S' IN THE DATA BLOCK AND INTERPRETED IT AS A HDOF THAT WAS COMPLETED TO STL. THEN I CHANGED THE SMT OVER THE STL CTLR'S FREQ. THE ACFT WAS ABOUT 5 MI INSIDE THEIR AIRSPACE AND ON THEIR FREQ WHEN THE STL CTLR NOTIFIED US. I RECOMMEND THAT THIS FEATURE BE ADAPTED SO THAT IT CAN BE REMOVED AT THE CTLR'S DISCRETION.
