Narrative:

I was traveling over lake michigan east of chicago at 2800' (all MSL) and turned to the west to pass just to the north of glenview NAS. I descended to 2400' and then to 1800' to stay under the floor of the ord TCA, and then continued west out of the chicago area. 2 weeks after the trip described above, someone at my home airport at 44C told me that they heard that someone had phoned 44C inquiring about whom was flying aircraft identify (me) that afternoon and that there was some problem having to do with the ord TCA. I will have the mode C encoder checked on the aircraft and am requesting that a check be made to confirm that the equipment being used at ord during the time period in question was and is operating properly.
