Flew over airport (checked wind, northeast 10-15 KTS), opened formation, set course 242 degree magnetic heading climbing 200 FPM. Hooked over right shoulder - wingman approximately 200-300 yards. Set course for mountainair, NM. Heard clicking sound. Felt slight bank. Canopy disintegration top plexiglas blew out. Engine stopped crossways, tips bent forward. Cut all switches. Landed in pasture.
