Narrative:

We were cleared to land in clt on runway 23. On or around a 5 mi final we were told of traffic at 2 O'clock and 1 to 2 mi. We were told he had us in sight and was maintaining visual separation. Then, on a 2 mi final, he passed in front of us. We had to make a climbing right turn to avoid hitting him. We missed him by about 200-300 ft horizontal and he was on our altitude. Passenger on board said they even saw him.
