Narrative:

Approached airport for landing to refuel. Called unicom. Reduced speed and tried to lower gear. Main gear extended. Front gear could not be extended. Could not retract main gear. Attempted landing on grass with main gear down. Front of floats dug into earth as rollout continued until aircraft came to rest upside down. After incident I talked to manufacturer of alternator and found out alternator required a speed of 65 mph to operate. Battery also failed to operate hydraulic pump to gear. Suggest: backup mechanic hand pumps in system to lower or retract gear.
