Narrative:

Bay approach cleared us for a visibility approach to runway 28R at sfo. He also pointed out small aircraft 10-11 O'clock about 2 mi as we crossed san mateo bridge and we were told he was for runway 28L. We noted that small aircraft was ahead and above us even though we were on the G/south for runway 28R. It appeared that he was making a dogleg final to runway 28L. As we were about 1 mi out for runway 28R, he veered to the right directly in front of us and co-altitude. He appeared to be 1/4-1/2 mi ahead. We immediately executed a missed approach and flew directly over the small aircraft. We had been cleared to land on runway 28R. He had been cleared to land runway 28L long landing. Everyone needs to be vigilant during parallel approachs, all pilots and ATC as well.
