Narrative:

Bwi approach control was vectoring us for the bwi airport. We were cleared to descend from 6000' to 4000'. During descent TCAS issued a TA, traffic was at 12 O'clock below us. This was followed by a RA of a climb at a rate of 1200-1500 FPM and ATC instructed us to turn right 40 degree immediately. During climb we advised ATC we were following a resolution and their instructions for the right turn. RA ceased, TCAS announced clear of conflict we resumed descent and turned back to original heading.
