Narrative:

Southbound small aircraft X was 9000 altitude, right for direction. Northbound small transport Y was 9000 (right for direction initially but should've changed to even altitude after slight course change over bkw VOR). I missed changing small transport Y altitude when course changed to 359 degree, then I allowed myself to be distraction by a VFR overflt changing his flight plan and who I had handoff problems with. By the time I looked back at the small aircraft X and small transport Y they were head on, both at 9000 4 mi apart and each had to be given a 90 degree left turn to miss. Correction: don't let distrs draw away from continued scanning.
