Narrative:

I take this method of reporting an ongoing hazard to aircraft having seen result from a previous report I submitted. Having lived and flown at the cedar key airport over 4 yrs now, there is an ongoing problem that seems to me is quite solveable for minimum cost. In 25 yrs of flying I've never seen another airport with our problem in that a taxiway is shared with public automobile traffic. As you can see on accompanying diagram, what looks like a taxiway, and shown as same in publications, is in fact a county road used by all up to the tiedown ramp, where it becomes a private road for access to homes. This is a county owned, public airport quite popular for fly-in for seafood restaurants and touristing, etc. I've seen as many as 50-60 incoming aircraft per day on weekends, always conflicting with automatic traffic where you have to taxi when ramp is full. This is a disaster waiting to happen. I've seen people in autos screaming at aircraft to get out of the way. As you can see by the enclosed picture, even the signs conflict in forbidding aircraft, then telling vehs to yield. This situation is fixable in that there already exist a (county owned) parallel gravel road for approximately 1/2 the length which could be lengthened to the ramp area where the private access to homes has been offered to be rerted behind, thereby eliminating acc automatic/aircraft conflict and providing a natural taxiway for aircraft. This has been pointed out to the county many times, but the situation still exists, hence this report. This airport had received both federal and state monies for improvements. It seems to me, it would be a minimal cost (surfacing the existing parallel road and extending same) on already owned land for fixing a very dangerous situation.

Title: GA REPORTER COMPLAINS ABOUT JOINT USE OF TXWY BY VEHICLES AND ACFT.

Narrative: I TAKE THIS METHOD OF RPTING AN ONGOING HAZARD TO ACFT HAVING SEEN RESULT FROM A PREVIOUS RPT I SUBMITTED. HAVING LIVED AND FLOWN AT THE CEDAR KEY ARPT OVER 4 YRS NOW, THERE IS AN ONGOING PROB THAT SEEMS TO ME IS QUITE SOLVEABLE FOR MINIMUM COST. IN 25 YRS OF FLYING I'VE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ARPT WITH OUR PROB IN THAT A TXWY IS SHARED WITH PUBLIC AUTOMOBILE TFC. AS YOU CAN SEE ON ACCOMPANYING DIAGRAM, WHAT LOOKS LIKE A TXWY, AND SHOWN AS SAME IN PUBLICATIONS, IS IN FACT A COUNTY ROAD USED BY ALL UP TO THE TIEDOWN RAMP, WHERE IT BECOMES A PVT ROAD FOR ACCESS TO HOMES. THIS IS A COUNTY OWNED, PUBLIC ARPT QUITE POPULAR FOR FLY-IN FOR SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS AND TOURISTING, ETC. I'VE SEEN AS MANY AS 50-60 INCOMING ACFT PER DAY ON WEEKENDS, ALWAYS CONFLICTING WITH AUTO TFC WHERE YOU HAVE TO TAXI WHEN RAMP IS FULL. THIS IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. I'VE SEEN PEOPLE IN AUTOS SCREAMING AT ACFT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE ENCLOSED PICTURE, EVEN THE SIGNS CONFLICT IN FORBIDDING ACFT, THEN TELLING VEHS TO YIELD. THIS SITUATION IS FIXABLE IN THAT THERE ALREADY EXIST A (COUNTY OWNED) PARALLEL GRAVEL ROAD FOR APPROX 1/2 THE LENGTH WHICH COULD BE LENGTHENED TO THE RAMP AREA WHERE THE PVT ACCESS TO HOMES HAS BEEN OFFERED TO BE RERTED BEHIND, THEREBY ELIMINATING ACC AUTO/ACFT CONFLICT AND PROVIDING A NATURAL TXWY FOR ACFT. THIS HAS BEEN POINTED OUT TO THE COUNTY MANY TIMES, BUT THE SITUATION STILL EXISTS, HENCE THIS RPT. THIS ARPT HAD RECEIVED BOTH FEDERAL AND STATE MONIES FOR IMPROVEMENTS. IT SEEMS TO ME, IT WOULD BE A MINIMAL COST (SURFACING THE EXISTING PARALLEL ROAD AND EXTENDING SAME) ON ALREADY OWNED LAND FOR FIXING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
