Narrative:

The WX conditions were moderate turbulence, strong gusty crosswind to 24 KTS, night, light rain. On final approach to rdu runway 23R approach asked us to slow to minimum approach speed, 'you are following an small aircraft Y light aircraft 3 mi ahead and your medium large transport X ground speed is twice is fast as small aircraft Y.' after switching to tower, I advised our distance was looking too close to small aircraft Y, 'and if someone is to go around I would rather it be the light aircraft.' tower replied, 'that is my decision!' the small aircraft Y cleared the runway just in time. Tower asked us to call the local tower # and speak to the regional tower manager. He was somewhat put out by our concerns about small aircraft Y, and questioned our concerns. The tower controller was very easily upset about the matter. The manager said, 'this is the end of the matter.' after all was said and done, my decision to question this traffic conflict was sound judgement, considering what happened at lax.

Title: MLG X PIC WAS CONCERNED ABOUT AN SMA AHEAD OF HIM ON FINAL APCH TO RWY 23R.

Narrative: THE WX CONDITIONS WERE MODERATE TURB, STRONG GUSTY XWIND TO 24 KTS, NIGHT, LIGHT RAIN. ON FINAL APCH TO RDU RWY 23R APCH ASKED US TO SLOW TO MINIMUM APCH SPD, 'YOU ARE FOLLOWING AN SMA Y LIGHT ACFT 3 MI AHEAD AND YOUR MLG X GND SPD IS TWICE IS FAST AS SMA Y.' AFTER SWITCHING TO TWR, I ADVISED OUR DISTANCE WAS LOOKING TOO CLOSE TO SMA Y, 'AND IF SOMEONE IS TO GO AROUND I WOULD RATHER IT BE THE LIGHT ACFT.' TWR REPLIED, 'THAT IS MY DECISION!' THE SMA Y CLRED THE RWY JUST IN TIME. TWR ASKED US TO CALL THE LCL TWR # AND SPEAK TO THE REGIONAL TWR MGR. HE WAS SOMEWHAT PUT OUT BY OUR CONCERNS ABOUT SMA Y, AND QUESTIONED OUR CONCERNS. THE TWR CTLR WAS VERY EASILY UPSET ABOUT THE MATTER. THE MGR SAID, 'THIS IS THE END OF THE MATTER.' AFTER ALL WAS SAID AND DONE, MY DECISION TO QUESTION THIS TFC CONFLICT WAS SOUND JUDGEMENT, CONSIDERING WHAT HAPPENED AT LAX.
