Narrative:

I was traveling westbound along V299 at 2500' MSL. As I approached the ventura VOR, I experienced difficulty with one of my two communication radios. While preoccupied with changing to the other radio, I passed over the VOR and started my descent along V-485, intending to land at camarillo airport. As I flew along this route, I inadvertently flew through the point magu NAS air traffic area west/O obtaining permission from the pt mugu tower or pt mugu approach control as required. I was intent on staying out of the restr area (R2519), which I did, however, I was negligent in not staying out of the pt mugu air traffic area or in the alternative, obtaining a clearance from the tower or approach control. When I contacted camarillo tower, after passing over the ventura VOR, I received instructions to enter the camarillo pattern midfield for a left downwind for runway 26. When I arrived abeam the tower, the tower operator advised me that I had violated pt mugu's air traffic area. My aircraft is an small aircraft and my mode C encoder was operating at the time of the incident. I am and was aware of the pertinent regulations pertaining to atas and it was a momentary lapse of attention on my part that caused the incident. To my knowledge, no other aircraft were involved, however, that does not excuse my deviation from the rules. A recurrence can be avoided by my being more alert to the proximity of the numerous ATC areas when I operate into camarillo, oxnard-ventura and santa paula airports.

Title: GA SMA UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE.

Narrative: I WAS TRAVELING WBND ALONG V299 AT 2500' MSL. AS I APCHED THE VENTURA VOR, I EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY WITH ONE OF MY TWO COM RADIOS. WHILE PREOCCUPIED WITH CHANGING TO THE OTHER RADIO, I PASSED OVER THE VOR AND STARTED MY DSNT ALONG V-485, INTENDING TO LAND AT CAMARILLO ARPT. AS I FLEW ALONG THIS RTE, I INADVERTENTLY FLEW THROUGH THE POINT MAGU NAS AIR TFC AREA W/O OBTAINING PERMISSION FROM THE PT MUGU TWR OR PT MUGU APCH CTL AS REQUIRED. I WAS INTENT ON STAYING OUT OF THE RESTR AREA (R2519), WHICH I DID, HOWEVER, I WAS NEGLIGENT IN NOT STAYING OUT OF THE PT MUGU ATA OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE, OBTAINING A CLRNC FROM THE TWR OR APCH CTL. WHEN I CONTACTED CAMARILLO TWR, AFTER PASSING OVER THE VENTURA VOR, I RECEIVED INSTRUCTIONS TO ENTER THE CAMARILLO PATTERN MIDFIELD FOR A L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 26. WHEN I ARRIVED ABEAM THE TWR, THE TWR OPERATOR ADVISED ME THAT I HAD VIOLATED PT MUGU'S ATA. MY ACFT IS AN SMA AND MY MODE C ENCODER WAS OPERATING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I AM AND WAS AWARE OF THE PERTINENT REGS PERTAINING TO ATAS AND IT WAS A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF ATTN ON MY PART THAT CAUSED THE INCIDENT. TO MY KNOWLEDGE, NO OTHER ACFT WERE INVOLVED, HOWEVER, THAT DOES NOT EXCUSE MY DEV FROM THE RULES. A RECURRENCE CAN BE AVOIDED BY MY BEING MORE ALERT TO THE PROX OF THE NUMEROUS ATC AREAS WHEN I OPERATE INTO CAMARILLO, OXNARD-VENTURA AND SANTA PAULA ARPTS.
