Narrative:

Flight ind-dfw. We were cleared to taxi to runway 23R at ind. The F/east reported a failure to get a satisfactory static/presurization check. I turned onto the runway 23R access and parked short of the hold line. It was 7 degree F and the wind was about 5 KTS on the nose. Power was advanced to about 65 percent N2 in an effort to obtain a valid static check. The pressurization attempt was unsuccessful and tower cleared us to a parking area area prior to returning to the gate. In the meantime we were able to get a successful static check, so a takeoff clearance was obtained and we departed. We later were told that the power we used on the access to runway 23R blew a heater hose loose from a parked on the ramp behind the airplane. The hose struck and bruised a mechanic. The power used was conservative for a taxiway situation and there was no reason to believe the runway 23R access is compromised by ramp proximity. I highly recommend that a caution note about power and ramp proximity be added to the ind 10-9 airport chart.

Title: FLT CREW OF LGT ADDED SMALL AMOUNT OF THRUST WHILE PARKED TO REMEDY A CABIN PRESSURIZATION PROBLEM. WERE LATER ADVISED THEIR JET BLAST HAD BLOWN A LOOSE HOSE THAT HIT A GND PERSON.

Narrative: FLT IND-DFW. WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 23R AT IND. THE F/E RPTED A FAILURE TO GET A SATISFACTORY STATIC/PRESURIZATION CHK. I TURNED ONTO THE RWY 23R ACCESS AND PARKED SHORT OF THE HOLD LINE. IT WAS 7 DEG F AND THE WIND WAS ABOUT 5 KTS ON THE NOSE. PWR WAS ADVANCED TO ABOUT 65 PERCENT N2 IN AN EFFORT TO OBTAIN A VALID STATIC CHK. THE PRESSURIZATION ATTEMPT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AND TWR CLRED US TO A PARKING AREA AREA PRIOR TO RETURNING TO THE GATE. IN THE MEANTIME WE WERE ABLE TO GET A SUCCESSFUL STATIC CHK, SO A TKOF CLRNC WAS OBTAINED AND WE DEPARTED. WE LATER WERE TOLD THAT THE PWR WE USED ON THE ACCESS TO RWY 23R BLEW A HEATER HOSE LOOSE FROM A PARKED ON THE RAMP BEHIND THE AIRPLANE. THE HOSE STRUCK AND BRUISED A MECH. THE PWR USED WAS CONSERVATIVE FOR A TXWY SITUATION AND THERE WAS NO REASON TO BELIEVE THE RWY 23R ACCESS IS COMPROMISED BY RAMP PROX. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT A CAUTION NOTE ABOUT PWR AND RAMP PROX BE ADDED TO THE IND 10-9 ARPT CHART.
