Narrative:

A commuter aircraft landed on runway 5R at providence collapsing its left gear on the landing roll. Both runways were closed for approximately 45 mins while the aircraft was towed clear of the runways. After waiting at the approach end of runway 5R with both engines shut down, we started both engines and taxied onto the runway for takeoff, after completing all checklists. On power up we got a takeoff warning horn and aborted the takeoff at approximately 50 KTS. We exited the runway and discovered the flaps were set at 1 degree instead of the intended and minimum 5 degrees. We rechked the takeoff warning system after resetting the flaps to 5 and it checked normal. Subsequent takeoff was normal. In the long delay we simply had forgotten that we were in a Y series aircraft, not a X series aircraft. (Crews are dual qualified). The before takeoff checklist calls for flap setting, but does not identify the aircraft type in the challenge or responses. We fly X series aircraft more often and almost always use a 1 degree flap setting. I plan to suggest a change in the checklist and will incorporate an additional 'aircraft type' check in my flap response immediately.

Title: MLG FLT CREW OVERLOOKED FACT THEY WERE IN AN ADVANCE SERIES TYPE MLG ACFT AND SET TKOF FLAPS FOR REG SERIES TYPE. HAD TKOF WARNING AND ABORTED TKOF. RESET FLAPS FOR PROPER SETTING AND PERFORMED NORMAL TKOF.

Narrative: A COMMUTER ACFT LANDED ON RWY 5R AT PROVIDENCE COLLAPSING ITS L GEAR ON THE LNDG ROLL. BOTH RWYS WERE CLOSED FOR APPROX 45 MINS WHILE THE ACFT WAS TOWED CLR OF THE RWYS. AFTER WAITING AT THE APCH END OF RWY 5R WITH BOTH ENGS SHUT DOWN, WE STARTED BOTH ENGS AND TAXIED ONTO THE RWY FOR TKOF, AFTER COMPLETING ALL CHKLISTS. ON PWR UP WE GOT A TKOF WARNING HORN AND ABORTED THE TKOF AT APPROX 50 KTS. WE EXITED THE RWY AND DISCOVERED THE FLAPS WERE SET AT 1 DEG INSTEAD OF THE INTENDED AND MINIMUM 5 DEGS. WE RECHKED THE TKOF WARNING SYS AFTER RESETTING THE FLAPS TO 5 AND IT CHKED NORMAL. SUBSEQUENT TKOF WAS NORMAL. IN THE LONG DELAY WE SIMPLY HAD FORGOTTEN THAT WE WERE IN A Y SERIES ACFT, NOT A X SERIES ACFT. (CREWS ARE DUAL QUALIFIED). THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST CALLS FOR FLAP SETTING, BUT DOES NOT IDENT THE ACFT TYPE IN THE CHALLENGE OR RESPONSES. WE FLY X SERIES ACFT MORE OFTEN AND ALMOST ALWAYS USE A 1 DEG FLAP SETTING. I PLAN TO SUGGEST A CHANGE IN THE CHKLIST AND WILL INCORPORATE AN ADDITIONAL 'ACFT TYPE' CHK IN MY FLAP RESPONSE IMMEDIATELY.
