Narrative:

While landing on runway 13R at dfw we were following a light transport who landed short and taxied all the way to the end of runway. We were cleared to land, saw that the light transport had skipped the high speed turnoff and asked the tower a second time if we were still cleared to land. Tower said yes, go ahead and land, light transport will clear. As we touched down light transport was just starting to clear. We had plenty of room to clear at the high speed so there was never a problem, however, the tower asked us to call when we did they apologized and said it was their fault and just need some information on the aircraft for their paperwork. We asked what they would prefer us to do in that situation and they could not give us an answer. We have had aircraft 'go around' in that situation and the tower get upset saying there was enough clearance between the aircraft still on the runway. We need a clarification on this.
