Narrative:

At xa:02 cleared by tower controller into position and hold to expect takeoff release at xa:06. While we were on runway, we heard tower controller say to a light transport, 'radar contact 9 mi out clear to land.' that was all that was heard until the light transport landed over our aircraft at xa:07. We called the tower asked, 'did you know a plane just landed.' tower responded, 'yes I noticed that.' then tower controller cleared us for takeoff. When we landed in lax we contacted rno tower. Captain spoke with tower supervisor. He explained that the tower controller forgot us. He sent the tower controller home and notified washington of incident. It is understood that the normal procedure when in this situation is for the tower controller to either advise aircraft cleared to land to caution for wake turbulence by preceeding aircraft on runway, or for tower controller to advise aircraft in position to hold of the aircraft on final. None of this was said. No warning to either aircraft at any time. Also could have been avoided if the light transport would have seen that we at end of runway and advised tower and proceeded to go around, missed approach!

Title: LTT IS CLEARED TO LAND OVER A MLG THAT IS HOLDING IN POSITION OF THE RWY. CLOSE.

Narrative: AT XA:02 CLRED BY TWR CTLR INTO POS AND HOLD TO EXPECT TKOF RELEASE AT XA:06. WHILE WE WERE ON RWY, WE HEARD TWR CTLR SAY TO A LTT, 'RADAR CONTACT 9 MI OUT CLR TO LAND.' THAT WAS ALL THAT WAS HEARD UNTIL THE LTT LANDED OVER OUR ACFT AT XA:07. WE CALLED THE TWR ASKED, 'DID YOU KNOW A PLANE JUST LANDED.' TWR RESPONDED, 'YES I NOTICED THAT.' THEN TWR CTLR CLRED US FOR TKOF. WHEN WE LANDED IN LAX WE CONTACTED RNO TWR. CAPT SPOKE WITH TWR SUPVR. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE TWR CTLR FORGOT US. HE SENT THE TWR CTLR HOME AND NOTIFIED WASHINGTON OF INCIDENT. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE NORMAL PROC WHEN IN THIS SITUATION IS FOR THE TWR CTLR TO EITHER ADVISE ACFT CLRED TO LAND TO CAUTION FOR WAKE TURB BY PRECEEDING ACFT ON RWY, OR FOR TWR CTLR TO ADVISE ACFT IN POS TO HOLD OF THE ACFT ON FINAL. NONE OF THIS WAS SAID. NO WARNING TO EITHER ACFT AT ANY TIME. ALSO COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE LTT WOULD HAVE SEEN THAT WE AT END OF RWY AND ADVISED TWR AND PROCEEDED TO GO AROUND, MISSED APCH!
