Narrative:

While #1 at intersection 35 of runway 35L at dfw we first witnessed an aircraft being cleared for takeoff then the controller cleared another aircraft to cross that same runway. The aircraft cleared to cross was behind the aircraft taking off, but the aircraft taking off had no way of knowing that. A few mins later we were cleared in position and hold on runway 35L. We acknowledged position and hold, checked final, and started rolling onto the runway. My flight engineer yelled to stop. An S80 was passing us on the right side of the aircraft by using the runup area of runway 35L. We were never told this aircraft was passing us and we were cleared into position and hold long before this aircraft was past.
