Narrative:

We departed teb at XX30 EDT en route to mvy on an IFR flight plan. Our aircraft was given radar vectors over north.Y.C. As we climbed to 9000'. We were assigned an east heading and handed off to another controller. After checking in we were told to turn 20 degrees to the left, and we did. The controller then asked if we were familiar with the northport stacks. We replied affirmative, and had the stacks in plain sight just off the right side of the nose. We were then instructed to proceed direct to the stacks. We repeated and acknowledged the transmission, then proceeded to turn bout 10 degrees back to the right to head for the stacks. After a few mins we were then told to turn 20 degrees left, to climb to 15000', and to expedite through 10000'. We responded and flew exactly as instructed. At this point, she called traffic off of our left side just as it was passing by. We reported the aircraft in sight. (I do not think the aircraft came within 1000', but it was closer than usual reported traffic.) just before handing us off to bos, she said she had told us to turn a total of 40 degrees to the left and that we did not comply. I informed her directly that we followed her instructions exactly, as we did. She then informed me that the northport stack instructions were for another aircraft; however, we were the only aircraft to reply. From the tone of her voice, I thought that she might have broken her sep minimums and was looking to pass the blame. I am sure that communication problems are quite commonplace, but I always make it a point to listen carefully and to cooperate with all radar facs.

Title: ATX REPLIED TO CLRNC FOR ANOTHER ACFT. SEPARATION WAS NOT LOST, BUT DID SEE ANOTHER ACFT IN CLOSE PROX WHEN TRAFFIC ADVISORY GIVEN.

Narrative: WE DEPARTED TEB AT XX30 EDT ENRTE TO MVY ON AN IFR FLT PLAN. OUR ACFT WAS GIVEN RADAR VECTORS OVER N.Y.C. AS WE CLBED TO 9000'. WE WERE ASSIGNED AN E HDG AND HANDED OFF TO ANOTHER CTLR. AFTER CHKING IN WE WERE TOLD TO TURN 20 DEGS TO THE LEFT, AND WE DID. THE CTLR THEN ASKED IF WE WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE NORTHPORT STACKS. WE REPLIED AFFIRMATIVE, AND HAD THE STACKS IN PLAIN SIGHT JUST OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE NOSE. WE WERE THEN INSTRUCTED TO PROCEED DIRECT TO THE STACKS. WE REPEATED AND ACKNOWLEDGED THE XMISSION, THEN PROCEEDED TO TURN BOUT 10 DEGS BACK TO THE RIGHT TO HEAD FOR THE STACKS. AFTER A FEW MINS WE WERE THEN TOLD TO TURN 20 DEGS LEFT, TO CLB TO 15000', AND TO EXPEDITE THROUGH 10000'. WE RESPONDED AND FLEW EXACTLY AS INSTRUCTED. AT THIS POINT, SHE CALLED TFC OFF OF OUR LEFT SIDE JUST AS IT WAS PASSING BY. WE RPTED THE ACFT IN SIGHT. (I DO NOT THINK THE ACFT CAME WITHIN 1000', BUT IT WAS CLOSER THAN USUAL RPTED TFC.) JUST BEFORE HANDING US OFF TO BOS, SHE SAID SHE HAD TOLD US TO TURN A TOTAL OF 40 DEGS TO THE LEFT AND THAT WE DID NOT COMPLY. I INFORMED HER DIRECTLY THAT WE FOLLOWED HER INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY, AS WE DID. SHE THEN INFORMED ME THAT THE NORTHPORT STACK INSTRUCTIONS WERE FOR ANOTHER ACFT; HOWEVER, WE WERE THE ONLY ACFT TO REPLY. FROM THE TONE OF HER VOICE, I THOUGHT THAT SHE MIGHT HAVE BROKEN HER SEP MINIMUMS AND WAS LOOKING TO PASS THE BLAME. I AM SURE THAT COM PROBS ARE QUITE COMMONPLACE, BUT I ALWAYS MAKE IT A POINT TO LISTEN CAREFULLY AND TO COOPERATE WITH ALL RADAR FACS.
