Narrative:

Unable to raise temporary ground control. Taxied as non radio (several aircraft were calling with no results) at end of runway was waved into position by guide man (air show sponsored, as was eaa flyin). In position heard over tower frequency 'in position and holding'. Heard my 'north number for takeoff'. Departed upon runway guidemans wave off. Temperature towers operation with a mix of non radio is confused situation. All non radio operation is safer because then everyone must 'look' or all radio, one or the other, no doubts.
