Narrative:
Flight arrived with a battery powered wheelchair in pit 2. For some unknown reason the 2 batteries were removed from the chair and just sitting in the pit. No battery box. Prongs not covered. When we delivered it to the customer she was clearly distraught and shocked that we would take apart her husband's wheelchair without their permission or direction. With her instruction we were able to reinstall the batteries. The batteries were handled incorrectly; which could have led to a dangerous situation.
