Narrative:
Encountered wake turbulence [on] departure behind an MD80 at about 400-500 ft. AGL. Rolled right and then left; not more than about 25 degrees. First officer was flying and he corrected with aileron and I followed lightly on the controls. We were out of it pretty quickly and continued on our departure.suggestions: I could have delayed takeoff by another 30 seconds.
