Inadvertent intrusion into albuquerque arsa. Misread top of arsa as 8400', actual 9400', passed through northeast corner, 2-3 mi inside at 8500'. Discovered when next looked at map for VOR frequency. Contributing factors. Not familiar with arsa area. Not intended direction of flight, flew around rain shower. Failure of HSI LORAN diverted attention. Human factors. Focused on autoplt problem, did not look close at map.
