Narrative:

Aircraft pushed from gate at dal. Ground informed crew to taxi runway 13R, hold short of runway 18. Captain started taxi and called for pretkof checklist. First officer completed after takeoff checklist and began challenges/response for pretkof checklist. As aircraft approached runway 18, F/a 'a' entered cockpit with coffee for the crew. Crew attention momentarily diverted from checklist duties. Aircraft penetrated hold line approximately 6' for runway 18. First officer and ground controller simultaneously informed captain to hold short. Captain brought the aircraft to a stop. No portion of aircraft enter runway. Small single aircraft on approximately 44 mi final for 18 was instructed to go around by tower. Aircraft could have landed west/O incident or danger to anyone. Probable cause of this was short taxi distance to hold line and crew's interruption by F/a. Checklist should not have been started until clear of runway 18.

Title: MLG TAXIS BEYOND HOLD LINE WHEN INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT.

Narrative: ACFT PUSHED FROM GATE AT DAL. GND INFORMED CREW TO TAXI RWY 13R, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 18. CAPT STARTED TAXI AND CALLED FOR PRETKOF CHKLIST. F/O COMPLETED AFTER TKOF CHKLIST AND BEGAN CHALLENGES/RESPONSE FOR PRETKOF CHKLIST. AS ACFT APCHED RWY 18, F/A 'A' ENTERED COCKPIT WITH COFFEE FOR THE CREW. CREW ATTN MOMENTARILY DIVERTED FROM CHKLIST DUTIES. ACFT PENETRATED HOLD LINE APPROX 6' FOR RWY 18. F/O AND GND CTLR SIMULTANEOUSLY INFORMED CAPT TO HOLD SHORT. CAPT BROUGHT THE ACFT TO A STOP. NO PORTION OF ACFT ENTER RWY. SMALL SINGLE ACFT ON APPROX 44 MI FINAL FOR 18 WAS INSTRUCTED TO GO AROUND BY TWR. ACFT COULD HAVE LANDED W/O INCIDENT OR DANGER TO ANYONE. PROBABLE CAUSE OF THIS WAS SHORT TAXI DISTANCE TO HOLD LINE AND CREW'S INTERRUPTION BY F/A. CHKLIST SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN STARTED UNTIL CLR OF RWY 18.
