Narrative:

Following an air show at the georgetown airport, I took a friend for a ride in my small aircraft. We flew out west of the airport over north fork lake, where we observed boating and water skiers. Our flight time was about 30 mins. Upon returning to the airport, an FAA safety inspector from the san antonio office introduced himself and said he had observed us making low passes over the lake closer than 500' to boating traffic. I told him I thought we had maintained 500' clearance. At no time did we conduct acrobatic flight. The FAA inspector examined the aircraft registration papers and flight worthiness certificate. He also looked at my license (private pilot southeast land). During an earlier flight this yr, I had lost my log book and medical certificate out of the aircraft baggage compartment. The medical certificate was taped inside the log book. The inspector said he wanted evidence of my medical certificate. On 5/tues/90, I took a class ii medical examination and passed west/O restriction. I mailed a copy of the medical certificate to the FAA inspector at his san antonio address. I called the FAA office in san antonio. The inspector I had talked with in georgetown was on vacation for the next 3 weeks. His supervisor said I would receive a registered letter from the FAA, and that some type of certificate action would probably result from this incident.
