Cleared for visibility approach to sjc 30L by bay approach and switched to sjc tower frequency. Sjc tower cleared us to land 30L and called unknown traffic in 11-12 O'clock position and closing in range. I visually picked up target at 11 O'clock and 3200' initiating right bank toward us. I took evasive sidestep action to the right to avoid collision. Landed safely 30L sjc.
