Narrative:

While en route mia-dtw, while southeast of atl at cruise, the F/east determined that the #2 fuel xfeed manifold valve was stuck closed. Because of this, usable fuel for engines 1 and 3 was not enough to make destination. We consulted with dispatch and maintenance and began diversion to atl. We initially thought we were further out than we really were. This resulted in events happening at a fairly rapid pace. The captain and second officer ran the checklist and dumped fuel to get us below landing weight. The approach and landing were accomplished without incident. The thing that somewhat surprised me looking back at this experience was the large number of considerations and decisions that needed to be addressed in this fairly simple abnormal. It struck me that we were falling behind at times due to a lack of making clear priorities. I hope that the new cockpit resource management programs include videotaped real life scenarios that will allow us to observe the crew interactions.
