Narrative:

We called our ramp for published first and then called ground using the phrase, 'flight #, push from gate X.' ground responded with, 'flight push at your discretion, call ready for taxi.' we pushed onto active taxiway zulu and ground control questioned us, saying we were not supposed to be there. We said we had a push clearance. Ground thought our call was only an advisory call. We thought it was a request for pushback clearance.

Narrative: WE CALLED OUR RAMP FOR PUBLISHED FIRST AND THEN CALLED GND USING THE PHRASE, 'FLT #, PUSH FROM GATE X.' GND RESPONDED WITH, 'FLT PUSH AT YOUR DISCRETION, CALL READY FOR TAXI.'
