Narrative:

Iah int departing runway 14L and landing runway 26 and 27. Departed runway 14L, tower requested an expeditious takeoff as tower had traffic on 4 mi final landing runway 14. Tower requested a turn to 020 degree when airborne. Turn was initiated and wing flaps were at 5 degree when tower requested expedited climb through 3000' MSL because of widebody transport traffic landing on runway 26. We were 'heavy' and flaps 5 with limited climb capability. I sighted the widebody transport on final for runway 26 and determined that if we did continue the left turn that a conflict would probably result. I informed iah tower that we were climbing at our maximum rate and that we would have to roll out heading 060 degree to 090 degree to avoid a conflict with the widebody transport. At first, tower (iah) questioned my decision then quickly granted my request for an easterly climb to avoid the widebody transport landing west. When we had achieved adequate vertical sep from the widebody transport, the tower then cleared us for a left turn to 350 degree and did a handoff to departure. I feel the potential for conflict was caused by the tower controller attempting to move too much traffic within the area, and the runway use confign. If I had not refused, the tower controller would have turned me into the widebody transport flight path near the widebody transport's altitude.

Title: ACR WAS ISSUED A DEP HEADING THAT CONFLICTED WITH AN ARR ACFT LNDG ON ANOTHER RWY.

Narrative: IAH INT DEPARTING RWY 14L AND LNDG RWY 26 AND 27. DEPARTED RWY 14L, TWR REQUESTED AN EXPEDITIOUS TKOF AS TWR HAD TFC ON 4 MI FINAL LNDG RWY 14. TWR REQUESTED A TURN TO 020 DEG WHEN AIRBORNE. TURN WAS INITIATED AND WING FLAPS WERE AT 5 DEG WHEN TWR REQUESTED EXPEDITED CLB THROUGH 3000' MSL BECAUSE OF WDB TFC LNDG ON RWY 26. WE WERE 'HEAVY' AND FLAPS 5 WITH LIMITED CLB CAPABILITY. I SIGHTED THE WDB ON FINAL FOR RWY 26 AND DETERMINED THAT IF WE DID CONTINUE THE L TURN THAT A CONFLICT WOULD PROBABLY RESULT. I INFORMED IAH TWR THAT WE WERE CLBING AT OUR MAX RATE AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO ROLL OUT HDG 060 DEG TO 090 DEG TO AVOID A CONFLICT WITH THE WDB. AT FIRST, TWR (IAH) QUESTIONED MY DECISION THEN QUICKLY GRANTED MY REQUEST FOR AN EASTERLY CLB TO AVOID THE WDB LNDG W. WHEN WE HAD ACHIEVED ADEQUATE VERT SEP FROM THE WDB, THE TWR THEN CLRED US FOR A L TURN TO 350 DEG AND DID A HDOF TO DEP. I FEEL THE POTENTIAL FOR CONFLICT WAS CAUSED BY THE TWR CTLR ATTEMPTING TO MOVE TOO MUCH TFC WITHIN THE AREA, AND THE RWY USE CONFIGN. IF I HAD NOT REFUSED, THE TWR CTLR WOULD HAVE TURNED ME INTO THE WDB FLT PATH NEAR THE WDB'S ALT.
