Narrative:

After landing on runway 21L at dtw we were cleared to taxi via foxtrot and hold short of 21C with the tower. When we got to 21C we were #2 to cross. It was apparent that the controllers were training at the time. We were cleared to cross 21C but were unable because the aircraft in front of us was not cleared. I informed tower that we were #2 and unable. The tower found the right aircraft in front of us and cleared them to cross. The aircraft holding on 21C was then cleared for takeoff and another into position and hold. After a long pause tower cleared the aircraft behind us to cross. I called tower and they seemed confused again. The captain took control of the radio and told the tower that we were crossing 21C and gave them our correct number. We contacted ground after crossing and straightened out the problem.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 21L AT DTW WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI VIA FOXTROT AND HOLD SHORT OF 21C WITH THE TWR. WHEN WE GOT TO 21C WE WERE #2 TO CROSS. IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE CTLRS WERE TRAINING AT THE TIME. WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS 21C BUT WERE UNABLE BECAUSE THE ACFT IN FRONT OF US WAS NOT CLRED. I INFORMED TWR THAT WE WERE #2 AND UNABLE. THE TWR FOUND THE RIGHT ACFT IN FRONT OF US AND CLRED THEM TO CROSS. THE ACFT HOLDING ON 21C WAS THEN CLRED FOR TKOF AND ANOTHER INTO POSITION AND HOLD. AFTER A LONG PAUSE TWR CLRED THE ACFT BEHIND US TO CROSS. I CALLED TWR AND THEY SEEMED CONFUSED AGAIN. THE CAPT TOOK CONTROL OF THE RADIO AND TOLD THE TWR THAT WE WERE XING 21C AND GAVE THEM OUR CORRECT NUMBER. WE CONTACTED GND AFTER XING AND STRAIGHTENED OUT THE PROBLEM.
