Narrative:

[We] departed dfw 17R via DARTZ6 RNAV departure. The first officer was the flying pilot; and I was the pilot monitoring. Prior to trexx at approximately 3000 ft we received a TA. The intruder aircraft was at a lower altitude and to our right (west). Regional departure told the intruder aircraft to turn; I do not remember the instructions. The intruder aircraft kept flying to the east southeast and climbing. Our TCAS alerted a TA. The TCAS indicated the aircraft was three hundred below our altitude and climbing. I told the first officer to increase his climb rate. At minus two hundred feet ATC issued us an immediate left turn to 140 heading. By the time we started the turn; on our TCAS the intruder aircraft symbol and our aircraft symbol were touching. The TCAS indicated one hundred feet difference. Once we were into the turn the conflict was resolved. We continued on the 140 heading until departure cleared us back to the DARTZ6 departure. I believe [the other aircraft] departed 18L; but had 17R loaded into their FMS. I should've had the first officer turn sooner than we did. I should have been more proactive; but the event took place in a short period of time. One of the problems was we never received a RA alert. That may be due to our altitude.
