Narrative:
Air carrier X checked on my frequency over tul proceeding direct to okc with a clearance to FL240. I cleared him to 100. Air carrier Y departed tul directly underneath air carrier X with a clearance from tul approach control to 150 proceeding direct okc. I thought a 200 KT speed difference would result in a lateral distance of 10 mi or more by the time they were at the same altitude. At this point I put a j-ring on air carrier X. Air carrier X speed decreased at a more rapid rate than I expected and air carrier Y speed increased at a more rapid rate than I expected. The conflict alert feature activated at a point that appeared to be less than 5 mi lateral and less than 1000' vertical separation. I feel that this error was a direct result of inadequate low altitude training instigated by the high low cross training program. It is also a direct result of my low experience level on low altitude. Another added factor tonight was that I was not feeling well. I have been under a doctor's care for several weeks now. The only reason I worked the midshift and didn't trade out of it was because I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow XXXX and I was trying to avoid using sick leave. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter experience: 6 yrs radar. Reporter has been certified 1 yr in low altitude sector. ZKC has been clamping down on sick leave usage and reporter did not want to be considered a sick leave abuser. Reporter was working 4 combined sectors which is normal for a mid shift. An operational error was filed. Conflict distance was 4 mi horizontal, 0 vertical.

Title: ACR X HAD LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION FROM ACR Y. SYSTEM ERROR.
Narrative: ACR X CHECKED ON MY FREQ OVER TUL PROCEEDING DIRECT TO OKC WITH A CLRNC TO FL240. I CLRED HIM TO 100. ACR Y DEPARTED TUL DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH ACR X WITH A CLRNC FROM TUL APCH CTL TO 150 PROCEEDING DIRECT OKC. I THOUGHT A 200 KT SPEED DIFFERENCE WOULD RESULT IN A LATERAL DISTANCE OF 10 MI OR MORE BY THE TIME THEY WERE AT THE SAME ALT. AT THIS POINT I PUT A J-RING ON ACR X. ACR X SPEED DECREASED AT A MORE RAPID RATE THAN I EXPECTED AND ACR Y SPEED INCREASED AT A MORE RAPID RATE THAN I EXPECTED. THE CONFLICT ALERT FEATURE ACTIVATED AT A POINT THAT APPEARED TO BE LESS THAN 5 MI LATERAL AND LESS THAN 1000' VERTICAL SEPARATION. I FEEL THAT THIS ERROR WAS A DIRECT RESULT OF INADEQUATE LOW ALT TRAINING INSTIGATED BY THE HIGH LOW CROSS TRAINING PROGRAM. IT IS ALSO A DIRECT RESULT OF MY LOW EXPERIENCE LEVEL ON LOW ALT. REPORTER HAS BEEN CERTIFIED 1 YR IN LOW ALT SECTOR. CONFLICT DISTANCE WAS 4 MI HORIZ, 0 VERT.
