Narrative:

While on approach to tpa, runway 26L, with the WX cle and visibility better than 20 mi. Flight was advised by tpa that the runway edge lights to runway 26L were inoperative, but the centerline lights and T/D zone lights were operating. Also the approach lights were operating. When runway 36R was requested for landing with edge lights operating, tpa tower advised that runway 36R was closed tonight arrs. Landing was made on runway 36L with edge light inoperative. No incident occurred and the aircraft was not involved in any damage. Tpa tower gave no explanation to why runway 26R was closed for night use.

Title: ACR FLT CREW QUESTIONS LEGALITY OF LNDG ACFT ON RWY AT NIGHT WITHOUT RWY EDGE LIGHTS.

Narrative: WHILE ON APCH TO TPA, RWY 26L, WITH THE WX CLE AND VISIBILITY BETTER THAN 20 MI. FLT WAS ADVISED BY TPA THAT THE RWY EDGE LIGHTS TO RWY 26L WERE INOP, BUT THE CENTERLINE LIGHTS AND T/D ZONE LIGHTS WERE OPERATING. ALSO THE APCH LIGHTS WERE OPERATING. WHEN RWY 36R WAS REQUESTED FOR LNDG WITH EDGE LIGHTS OPERATING, TPA TWR ADVISED THAT RWY 36R WAS CLOSED TONIGHT ARRS. LNDG WAS MADE ON RWY 36L WITH EDGE LIGHT INOP. NO INCIDENT OCCURRED AND THE ACFT WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY DAMAGE. TPA TWR GAVE NO EXPLANATION TO WHY RWY 26R WAS CLOSED FOR NIGHT USE.
