Narrative:

While on descent, still under the control of ZDV, I contacted montrose unicom on 122.8 on #2 radio to obtain WX, runway in use and altitude setting (first officer flying from right seat). Information was obtained--no reported traffic. I switched back to #1 radio, cancelling IFR in due time with den. The next calls: 'entering downwind, turning base to final,' intended on unicom, were all made on the center frequency, since I failed to switch from #1 to #2 radio. Due to the terrain, I received no replies from center--thus I assumed the chap on unicom was sleeping. On a 3 mi final I noted an mdt taxiing into position. After a short hesitation, I intended to make a go around; however, the air carrier taxied off the active and we made a routine landing. At no point was the safety in jeopardy, but transmitting on the wrong frequency is certainly not the shining example of descent airmanship we want to be acknowledged for.

Title: CREW OF BIZ JET, ON APCH TO NON TWR ARPT, MISTUNE RADIO AND FAIL TO CAALL ON CTAF.

Narrative: WHILE ON DSCNT, STILL UNDER THE CTL OF ZDV, I CONTACTED MONTROSE UNICOM ON 122.8 ON #2 RADIO TO OBTAIN WX, RWY IN USE AND ALT SETTING (F/O FLYING FROM RIGHT SEAT). INFO WAS OBTAINED--NO RPTED TFC. I SWITCHED BACK TO #1 RADIO, CANCELLING IFR IN DUE TIME WITH DEN. THE NEXT CALLS: 'ENTERING DOWNWIND, TURNING BASE TO FINAL,' INTENDED ON UNICOM, WERE ALL MADE ON THE CENTER FREQ, SINCE I FAILED TO SWITCH FROM #1 TO #2 RADIO. DUE TO THE TERRAIN, I RECEIVED NO REPLIES FROM CENTER--THUS I ASSUMED THE CHAP ON UNICOM WAS SLEEPING. ON A 3 MI FINAL I NOTED AN MDT TAXIING INTO POS. AFTER A SHORT HESITATION, I INTENDED TO MAKE A GAR; HOWEVER, THE ACR TAXIED OFF THE ACTIVE AND WE MADE A ROUTINE LNDG. AT NO POINT WAS THE SAFETY IN JEOPARDY, BUT XMITTING ON THE WRONG FREQ IS CERTAINLY NOT THE SHINING EXAMPLE OF DSCNT AIRMANSHIP WE WANT TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED FOR.
