Narrative:

We pushed back behind an air carrier Y large transport on the ramp area of srq, just south of taxiway D1. We had wing-walkers. We made an inquiry to the tug driver, asking if he had enough space. We made 2 attempts to ask srq ground if we could use taxiway D1 to push back on. They never answered. He was busy working 2 other jets on ground and 1 on tower. Since I have been going to srq, we have always taxied out of D1 when not pushed back onto it. I have only once taxied in on another taxiway (D2). The air carrier Y large transport was 14-17' off his parking tee. He should have been that far forward toward the concourse. When we turned to taxi out D1, our right horizontal stabilizer edge struck the air carrier Y vertical stabilizer tail cone assembly. We felt a slight shudder and knew something was amiss. We then taxied back to the gate when told by our ground crew of the contact. We could not taxi out D2, as there were 2 jets coming in on D2. Ground just told us to taxi to runway 32. This could have probably been prevented, if we insisted on using D1 to push back on, if we had been able to get hold of ground for the request, if air carrier Y had parked 17' further forward at his proper parking tee, and if our ground crew had stayed with us in these tight quarters after receiving our salute. The air carrier Y did not look close out the right copilot seat window.

Title: TAIL OF ACR LGT HIT TAIL OF ANOTHER LGT AS THEY TURNED OUT FROM GATE PUSHBACK.

Narrative: WE PUSHED BACK BEHIND AN ACR Y LGT ON THE RAMP AREA OF SRQ, JUST S OF TXWY D1. WE HAD WING-WALKERS. WE MADE AN INQUIRY TO THE TUG DRIVER, ASKING IF HE HAD ENOUGH SPACE. WE MADE 2 ATTEMPTS TO ASK SRQ GND IF WE COULD USE TXWY D1 TO PUSH BACK ON. THEY NEVER ANSWERED. HE WAS BUSY WORKING 2 OTHER JETS ON GND AND 1 ON TWR. SINCE I HAVE BEEN GOING TO SRQ, WE HAVE ALWAYS TAXIED OUT OF D1 WHEN NOT PUSHED BACK ONTO IT. I HAVE ONLY ONCE TAXIED IN ON ANOTHER TXWY (D2). THE ACR Y LGT WAS 14-17' OFF HIS PARKING TEE. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THAT FAR FORWARD TOWARD THE CONCOURSE. WHEN WE TURNED TO TAXI OUT D1, OUR RIGHT HORIZ STAB EDGE STRUCK THE ACR Y VERT STAB TAIL CONE ASSEMBLY. WE FELT A SLIGHT SHUDDER AND KNEW SOMETHING WAS AMISS. WE THEN TAXIED BACK TO THE GATE WHEN TOLD BY OUR GND CREW OF THE CONTACT. WE COULD NOT TAXI OUT D2, AS THERE WERE 2 JETS COMING IN ON D2. GND JUST TOLD US TO TAXI TO RWY 32. THIS COULD HAVE PROBABLY BEEN PREVENTED, IF WE INSISTED ON USING D1 TO PUSH BACK ON, IF WE HAD BEEN ABLE TO GET HOLD OF GND FOR THE REQUEST, IF ACR Y HAD PARKED 17' FURTHER FORWARD AT HIS PROPER PARKING TEE, AND IF OUR GND CREW HAD STAYED WITH US IN THESE TIGHT QUARTERS AFTER RECEIVING OUR SALUTE. THE ACR Y DID NOT LOOK CLOSE OUT THE RIGHT COPLT SEAT WINDOW.
